Tom’s objective is to work with you to achieve your goals. He will provide professional, high quality coaching services to you. He believes that runners of all standards benefit from well structured, appropriate training regimes.
Tom’s training programmes are:
- Tailored to you – what you want to achieve, your current fitness level and, most importantly, the other things going on in your life. We don’t all have unlimited time available to train, so he will base the training on what you can do.
- Goal-based – typically a race 2-3 months ahead. This gives the programme structure and lets you see your progress.
- Varied – with different training on different days provide interest and motivation. You can also join the group training to mix it up more.
- High performance – Tom’s training programmes aim to get you the best performance you are capable of. Whether you want to run your first 5k or you want a new personal best for City 2 Surf, he can help.
“I love running and approached Tom at a point in time when work and family commitments were allowing me to get out a few times a week doing similar distances and times each run. My goal to Tom was to bring some variation and challenge to my sessions and improve my times which were pretty much the same week on week.
He put together a schedule, the variation of the programme was brilliant mixing up short fast interval sessions, with longer ones (which I cursed him for!), some steady runs, and building to longer distances that I had never attempted before. The spread of the sessions was great and we checked in regularly to make sure the transition wasn’t too difficult, that I understood the sessions for the week and to give feedback on how they went and what I did / did not enjoy.
Having left my competitive days behind many years ago I decided to enter a race 7 weeks into the programme. I was absolutely stoked with my time taking about 30 seconds of my average 1km speed from when I started the programme. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results and the way Tom has fulfilled the brief.
