Running Group 28 Feb

Another great School Cross Country Training session today!

Training this week was all about running CORNERS.
Why? Because the Avalon School Cross Country Course has many, many corners.
It goes in and out of the school grounds, round trees, buildings, fences.
If you can go round corners well, then you will go fast and have fun on Race day.

Also – it’s fun!

The session was:
Warm-up: Animal runs – all very good, apart from the Elephants
Drills: With a focus on strong arms to help run out of the corners
Session: 15minutes of zig-zag runs in small groups
Warm-down: Skipping

Thank you to those who participated this week – really great running from everybody.

Inspirational Runners
This week’s inspirational runner is Kurt Fearnley.
Kurt has to be Australia’s greatest distance athlete ever – with two Paralympic Marathon wins and four World Championships – plus winning the New York Marathon 4 times.
The link below is to audio of his Australia Day address this year.
It is one of the most inspiring things I have heard.
Please take time to listen.
